****** is the name of the Brady Family’s dog, who appeared in many of the early episodes. The original dog used was run over by an automobile and died of his injuries before the fourth episode, but a replacement look-alike (named "******" in real life) was found. This version stayed on until partway through the second season, when he was quietly written out of the series. This paralled the Brady’s Friday night companion show The Partridge Family who’s dog Simone also disappeared that year without an explanation.

****** appeared in a total of 10 episodes.

Later, ****** had a starring role in the 1974 tongue in cheek post-apocalyptic science fiction film A Boy and His Dog alongside Don Johnson, in which he helped his owner forage for food and women, and also was telepathic and communicated with humans with sarcastic and intelligent wit. ****** was voiced in that film by veteran actor Tim McIntire. ****** died soon after the making of this film, yet remains famous as the film gathered a cult following

Babe_ver1

Bobo and Meja had the correct answer with Fly and Rex as the female and male sheep herding border collies from the movie Babe.

If you are an animal lover and haven’t seen Babe you should, I wasn’t too fond of the sequel Babe: Pig in the City but the first one is a classic.

The Akita Inu (秋田犬?) is a breed of large dog originating in Japan, named for Akita Prefecture, where it is thought to have originated. It is sometimes called the Akita-ken based on the Sino-Japanese reading of the same kanji. It is considered a separate breed from the American Akita (except in America and Canada), and is quite uncommon in many countries.

mymarriedlife and Adrienne both came up with the correct answer, Šarplaninac.

2

Šarplaninac

The breed can also work cattle and serve as a guard dog; it was bred and used as a military dog under Josip Broz Tito. The Šarplaninac is spreading through North American ranches as a sheep herding dog and a livestock guardian. Since 1975, successful exports have been carried out to the United States and Canada to control coyotes, and this is where its future security rests. It is now gaining recognition as a hard-working, able flock guard in those countries.

2 at play

It may not look like it but this is what dogs do for fun. I assure you this is not a dog fight.

We now have three dogs here and from the first thing in the morning until the dark of night this scene is repeated over and over again, dogs roughhousing until they all curl up together and sleep the night away.

The family that plays together, stays together,
Maggie Mae, Lou Lou, and BB

http://thymegoesby.wordpress.com/2009/11/15/my-old-shep/

The link above tells a touching story of two great dogs, one from the past and one from the recent past. Old Shep and Duffy both loved in a way that we can only hope to be loved.

There is a lot to be said about dogs being a good judge of character and I believe that Shep and Duffy only mirrored the love and loyalty they received from their respective families.

To convey love or beauty in words or images is a difficult task, and the few that can do it well are in one form or another artists. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the art I find at this blog every time I visit it and I feel that this only mirrors the inner beauty of it’s author. http://thymegoesby.wordpress.com

Shep and Duffy you were both blessed to love and be loved by the families you had.

May we all be so blessed,
Lonnie

Captured moments in time. This is the spring and summer of 2009 as I remember it.

Birthday girl

Maggie here,

Pictured above is my step sister Matilda Lou or as we call her Lou Lou. Thursday the 12th is her first birthday and I am planning a surprise party for her. You are all welcome, I just hired a clown to perform, he’ll be dressed up as a squirrel which is fitting.

I would appreciate it if you all would not let the cat out of the bag about her birthday, oops, that just doesn’t sound right coming from a dog.

See ya soon,
Maggie “Surprise” Mae

Acting class Maggie Mae here,
If you are a talent scout or movie producer please give my agent a call.

I am an experienced actress and am currently seeking a movie role. I will work for milk bones and I may be a bit of a prima Donna but I promise not to be too disruptive.

As you can see from my acting class portfolio that I can play any role, comedy or drama, whatever you throw at me.

I am not too proud to work for Disney, even if they decide to do a remake of Goofy.

Give me a call Mr. Spielberg or Mr. Tarantino, no roles too big and no roles too small.

I’ll even do a made for TV movie,
Maggie “Julia Roberts” Mae
