Duck blind?

Fall-2011

Hi Maggie Mae here,

So we were all watching the TV the other day and this outdoor sportsman show came on and the host was duck hunting from a blind. So being the rocket scientist that I am I got the idea for a squirrel blind.

Does anyone know where I can find a squirrel call?

Good night…

IMG_8733-Edit

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

From The Poems of Dylan Thomas

Tonight is our first chance of frost, this will bring about the end of all things sacred to me, green grass, the bloom of a flower, and most of all the warmth of the sun.

Before the first flake flies I am wishing with all of my heart for an early spring. As the poem says I am raging against the dying of the light.

May the light shine for you,
Lonnie

Training rigors…

PFC Brandi on duty,

Scan the trees, watch in the grass, try to stay down wind, always be vigilant, and never forget safety. Doing treerat rounds can be a lot of work but I have seen the horrors these rodents can reek.

Be kind, rewind…

IMG_7958-2
Maggie here,

My so called “master” said that this summer was coming to the end. I was wondering if one of you would be nice enough to hit the rewind button, please?

Let the hazing begin…

Matilda Lou (Lou Lou) here,

Have you heard? Squirrel Patrol has a new recruit, Brandi. You can’t have a rookie without some hazing. Does anybody have any suggestions?

PFC Brandi, Squirrel Patrol here,

Dear Mother I am writing today to tell you that after a vigorous elimination process I have been selected to serve in Squirrel Patrol. My hopes are to make you and Dad proud and serve our country well.

I am bunked up with three of the best squirrel chasers there are and boot camp is very hard but I now have a purpose in life and am very happy.

This will be my last communication because our movements are top secret.

It’s raining squirrels…

IMG_8898
Maggie Mae here,

Wow!    That’s the third time this week that I woke up from that nightmare. In this terrible dream squirrels just start falling from the sky and nothing and nobody is safe from these disgusting rodents and they raid the Seven Eleven and steal all of the Snickers and Payday bars. The good news is there are some Mounds bars but no Almond Joys.

False Idols…

IMG_8839

Maggie here,

Today I went outside only to find some wisenheimer’s idea of a joke.

Can you believe that someone would spend money for a statue of a tree rat?

It’ll probably steal something and smell up the place.

No matter where you go or what you do, you live your entire life within the confines of your head. ~Terry Josephson

Maggie’s fortune cookie:
If an acorn falls from a tree it was probably a squirrel throwing it at you!

Rules for happiness:

  • Expect less and you will never be disappointed.
  • Never worry.  Things remain the same with or without worries.
  • Hatred is a burden that only you bear.
  • The simple life is less demanding.
  • Get a dog and you will always be loved.

I am now an officially retired man. I plan to live every moment in as much happiness as I can muster, but like most things in life they are no fun without someone to share them with. Please enjoy life with me so that my life will have purpose.

Find beauty, love, happiness, and purpose and I will have made a difference,
Lonnie

All work and no play…

IMG_8594-summer heat-2-2
Maggie here,
My sisters and I took a nice little break from this long hot summer to play in the sprinklers. It was a lot of fun!

I guess it’s time to get back to work chasing that trash talking squirrel.

Hey Rockford do you kiss your Mom with that mouth?
